Radio removal

You can use special tools for this, but a small pocket knife with a file blade will work equally as well.  The photos are of the bottom of the radio, and illustrate how the blade or tool engages and pulls in the catch at the side of the radio to release the radio.  Insert the blade at an angle as shown, and then straighten it as you more fully insert it.  Gently pull that side of the radio out a fraction of an inch.  Then move to the other side of the radio and repeat.

Once both sides are free, you can pull the radio completely out of the dash.

Many Mercedes radios require the entry of a security code whenever the radio is removed or disconnected from power.  You will need it when you reinstall your radio.  It is recorded on a card in your owner’s manual case.  You can also obtain if from your dealer by supplying your VIN and/or radio serial number.
